"Work/Life Balance" and Your Team Culture
Dear Uncommon Leaders,
Happy March! This week, our focus on “Evidences of a Healthy Team Culture,” continues. Be inspired this new month and stay uncommon. Have a great week!
Your Sunday Nugget
This Week's Question:
Do we have a lot of people carrying a little, or a few people carrying a lot?
This Week's Challenge:
In the healthiest team cultures, a healthy work/life balance is valued. It is so easy for work to take over our lives and the lives of our team members. If I’m honest, it happens to me more often than I’d like to admit. We must be intentional to make sure work doesn’t invade and completely take over our lives. In some super busy organizations, we’ve seen leaders who are carrying more than they should and often this is self-inflicted. They may be hesitant to ask for help or to delegate, or they just can’t let go.
Your challenge this week is to look for ways to share the load amongst your team so work doesn’t flood everyone’s personal life. Sometimes that may mean asking for help; sometimes it’s offering to help someone else who is overloaded. While we may not be able to completely avoid taking some work home from time to time, the healthiest cultures share the load to allow for health outside the workplace.
