Team Member Retention --- Part 3

Dear Uncommon Leaders,

Hope you had a great weekend and looking forward to a nice Thanksgiving this week with family and friends. 🦃 🍽

Use every opportunity to be uncommon this week! 👊

Your Sunday Nugget

This Week's Question:

What are you helping someone master at work?

This Week's Challenge:

The better trained team member is going to feel more confident and secure in their job and is more likely to stay longer than a team member who feels ineffective or lost. The best leaders look to teach constantly. They are sharing and showing what they know on a daily basis.

In my experience, it is so easy for me to get caught up in what I am doing and forget to teach those around me. Daniel Pink, the author of Drive says that mastery is one of the top 3 key motivators of people at work. Mastery is the urge to get better and better at something that matters. When someone masters something, they are more engaged and therefore more likely to stay.

This week, your challenge is to help those around you begin to master something new at work. What do you know how to do that you can teach others? Not only is your workplace likely to improve the more people know, you’re also helping others feel more secure in their roles. While you are helping others learn, don’t forget to look for new skills or tasks you can master - it will help you as well!

Have masterful week!
