How Engaged Are You At Work?

Dear Uncommon Leaders,

Are you ready for a new week? It's also a new month! What are your goals this month? What are your goals for the remainder of the year? Whatever they are, make October and the rest of 2023 uncommon!

Have a great week, Leaders!

Your Sunday Nugget

This Week's Question:

How engaged in your role are you currently?

This Week's Challenge:

Engagement. It is a key word these days. I frequently see articles about “employee engagement” and hear comments about “owner engagement.” Being engaged in what we are doing is essential if we are to be fulfilled AND if we are to reach our goals.  The next couple of Sunday Nuggets are going to be about this topic. The week’s focus is about your own individual engagement at work.

For our context, the best definition of engagement is: the strength of the mental and emotional connection someone feels toward the work they do, their team and their organization.

Engaged employees obviously care more about their work, they stay longer, have higher levels of job satisfaction and almost always out-produce disengaged employees.

Your challenge this week is to be honest with yourself and rate your own engagement on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being totally disengaged and a 10 being highly engaged and thriving.

Next week, we will focus on how to improve your engagement if it’s not where it should be.

This Week's Quote to Ponder:

"Highly engaged employees make the customer experience. Disengaged employees break it." - Timothy R. Clark

Until next week,

LET'S GO BE UNCOMMON!
