Today, I’m stepping away from the 101 Secrets of Highly Productive People to share some words from entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker Jim Rohn. Yesterday (December 5, 2013), marked the fourth anniversary of his passing. And while I never met him, Mr. Rohn significantly influenced my thinking.

In memory of Mr. Rohn, and the influence he had on me through his words, I thought it would be good to share with you some of his words. Enjoy!

Some of my favorite Jim Rohn quotes:

Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems; wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges; wish for more wisdom.

Don’t join an easy crowd. You won’t grow. Go where the expectations and the demands to perform and achieve are high.

We generally change ourselves for one of two reasons: inspiration or desperation.

The few who do are the envy of the many who watch.

Success is what you attract by the person you become.

Affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion.

Success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.

Learn how to separate the majors from the minors. A lot of people don’t do well simply because they major in minor things.

Don’t mistake movement for achievement. It’s easy to get faked out by being busy. The question is: Busy doing what?

Learn how to say no. Don’t let your mouth overload your back.

We can have more than we’ve got because we can become more than we are.

You must either modify your dreams or magnify your skills.

Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want.

We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.
