The Benefit Of Thinking Bigger

One day, a young inner-city boy went to his mom and pitched to her an idea: to start his very own t-shirt line. His mother then asked him to paint a picture of what this little business would look like, and he explained to her that he just wanted to make a little extra money to help out with household expenses.

“Think bigger,” she said.

The boy expanded his idea, describing to her how his business would become well-known in their community.

“Think bigger,” she said.

Again, he expanded his idea and went on about his dream of it being successful all across the state.

“Think bigger,” she said.

And once more, he expanded his idea, declaring that it would become a globally recognized brand worth billions of dollars.

After having more failures than successes—including closing his doors three times after going broke and having 42 rejections from music video producers refusing to endorse his brand—he continued to “think bigger” and his little t-shirt business grew into the globally-recognized clothing brand FUBU.

Daymond John was challenged to “think bigger.” And then he acted on it.
