Most of the time when we set goals, especially for a new year, we focus on starting things like diets or exercise programs. Also, we tend to list things we’d like to stop, like eating donuts, smoking or spending money on things we don’t need.
I invite you to consider another word when making plans and setting goals and that word is: keep.
Are there some things you should KEEP doing? Sometimes we focus so much on starting and stopping that we neglect thinking about what we should keep doing in our lives. If we are not careful we will put so much energy into the start and stop that we will drop important behaviors that are already making a difference in our lives.
Keeping something going for another whole year might just pay off more than anything you start and…. you have already started it!
What do you need to keep doing this year?
