The other day, I heard a story about an elderly lady who had an unusual request.
She was meeting with the man who she had asked to deliver the message at her funeral. She had picked out the songs, selected the casket in which she wanted to be buried, as well as the final gown she would wear.
“Bill, there is one more thing I want you to do for me when I die.”
“What’s that Sally?”
“I want to be buried with a fork in my hand.”
“Yes, a fork. You see, every Thanksgiving my grandmother always cooked a great meal for us. Her table was filled with ham, turkey, dressing, and everything else that goes with it. After we finished the meal, as she was collecting the plates, she always leaned over and whispered, ‘Hold on to your fork honey, you are going to need it.’ I knew this meant I was about to get a piece of her famous chocolate pie.
“I want to be buried holding on to a fork because I believe something better is on the way. And I want to remind others that the best is yet to come.”
Do you believe there is something better coming in your life and business?
Sally’s grandmother gave her hope by telling her to hold on to her fork. Do you have something or someone that reminds you to hope?
Make a list of the things you are looking forward to in your life and business. Take some time out to be thankful for those opportunities…then get back to work making them happen.
